How Do We Train?
At Reedy Rover, we believe dog training should be a balanced approach along with significant changes in your relationship with your dog to see the best results.
What Is Balanced Training?
We believe in rewarding the dogs for what we like, but also correcting what we don’t like. We don’t “yank and crank” dogs into position, or administer harsh corrections when the dog is learning, that would be unfair. We do teach the dog what we want, and after the dog fully understands what they are asked, and do not follow through, then we provide additional feedback in the form of a correction (leash pop, higher level on the e-collar, reward removal, etc). This way the dog is getting double the feedback, and everything is very clear.
What Can We Do For You?
We like to meet you and your dog before training starts so we can set up a customized training plan, and see what will work best for you and your family! We work with dogs and their owners who need basic obedience and advanced obedience. We also work with some behavioral issues (reactivity, overly aroused/hyper dogs, resource guarding, etc.)
We believe in using tools for training when appropriate, but also making the appropriate relationship changes where necessary. Your dogs temperament and behavioral issues will determine which tools we will need to use. Training tools used include: food, toys, slip leads, prong collars, e-collars, etc.
Every dog owner should be able to take their dog in public (if they want) and your dog should be able to listen in public, not just in your house. We offer programs where we can set up real world distractions so you can have great dog everywhere you go!
